What review statistics actually show

Three charts to read how your Google reviews evolve

The Review statistics page opens on the last twelve months and offers three views. The cumulative average rating shows how your overall rating changes as reviews come in. The number of reviews collected is shown month by month or as a running total, so you can see whether a campaign had an effect. The rating distribution gives the share of each star rating, then how it changes month to month. Above the charts, cards summarize the average rating, the volume, the share of four- or five-star reviews and the response rate for the current selection.

A table that ranks your locations over the same period

Below the charts, a table lists each location in the selection with its average rating, its number of reviews, its share of five-star reviews and its share of one- or two-star reviews. Each column sorts with one click: you immediately see the site getting the most negative reviews, or the one collecting the fewest. The summary bar shows the number of locations, the overall average, the total number of reviews and the best performer. The Excel export button downloads these rows in a dated file, ready to share in a meeting or with a regional manager.

Filters by group, location and period

Three filters define what you analyze. The Group filter uses the groups created by the admin, for example a region or a brand, and then limits the choice of locations to their members. The Location filter accepts multiple selections with search by name. The period ranges from the last seven days to all time, with a custom date range if needed. A summary line describes the current analysis: selected locations, period and number of reviews included. Each user only sees the locations they have access to, including in totals and exports.

Frequently asked questions

Seven, thirty or ninety days, six or twelve months, all time, or a date range you pick from a calendar. The page opens on the last twelve months by default.

It is the share of reviews in your selection that have received a reply. It follows the filters: change the location or period and the rate is recalculated on the matching reviews only.

It compares the last thirty days with the thirty days before: the change in average rating and the change in review count. If one of the two periods has no reviews, the rating change is not shown.

One row per location with its average rating, its number of reviews, its share of five-star reviews and its share of one- or two-star reviews, calculated on the filters applied at the time of export.

Yes. A report goes out on Monday morning with the previous week's figures: new reviews, the week's rating, overall rating and reviews of three stars or fewer to keep an eye on. You can turn it off in your settings.

No. If no review arrived for your locations during the week, the report is not sent, to avoid an empty email. It resumes as soon as a new review arrives the following week.

It reads up to 500 of your recent reviews that contain text and produces a summary, your strengths and your areas for improvement. A new analysis can be run once a month.

Yes, the Visibility page reads the statistics of your Google Business Profile: views on mobile and desktop, website clicks, calls and direction requests, month by month.

No. Charts, table, export and email report only cover the locations assigned to them. The admin sees the figures for the entire organization.
